It is my belief that grandparenting is the most important family role of the new century.” – Roma Hanks, Ph.D.
celebrating grandparents dayYesterday was Grandparents’ Day and I spent it at Ikea with my daughter and granddaughter.  That may seem like a strange way to spend a “holiday” but it was actually quite a good day. We have traditions around Ikea that include meatballs and imagining that we get to redesign our homes. It was fun.

Tomorrow, I board a plane for Victoria, BC to visit my cousin Eunice, who lives in Australia.  We haven’t seen one another in 20 years, and before that since we were 14 years old. She flew there for her son’s wedding, so I am going to tag along for a couple of days of sightseeing and get reacquainted with her family.

Today I’m going around in circles trying to remember everything I need to do or pack before I leave.
